We know privacy policies can be confusing, so we've written this in plain English. If you have questions, just ask us!
What This Policy Covers
Steerx Pty Ltd runs a platform where:
• Fleet companies find drivers for jobs
• Drivers can use the Platform to find new work opportunities
• Vehicle owners rent out their trucks and equipment
This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
We only collect information we actually need to make our platform work safely. We're careful with your data and follow Australian privacy laws.
What Information We Collect (And Why)
Your Basic Details
We collect your name, email, phone number, address, gender, date of birth when you sign up. We also ask for photos for your profile, vehicle and payment information to handle transactions. This basic information helps us create your account, contact you about jobs, process payments, and verify that you're a real person using our platform.
If You're a Driver
For drivers, we may collect driver's license details, work experience and qualifications, insurance details, and bank account information for payments. We also require a 100-point identity check, which means you'll need to provide documents like your passport, birth certificate, Medicare card, or other government-issued identification that adds up to 100 points under the Australian government's identity verification system. We need this information to make sure you're qualified to drive safely, to keep everyone on the platform secure, to pay you for completed jobs, and to show fleet companies your professional credentials when they're considering hiring you. Your identity documents are treated as sensitive information and are never shared with other users, only verification status (like "ID verified" badges) are visible to others.
If You're Company
Companies may need to provide business registration details, company insurance information, and authorised person details. This helps us verify that you're a legitimate business, ensures you can pay drivers for their work, and allows us to handle any insurance or legal issues that might arise during jobs.
If You Own Vehicles
Vehicle owners need to provide registration documents, insurance papers and vehicle condition photos. This information ensures your vehicle is legal and safe to operate, helps us handle insurance matters if something goes wrong, and allows us to resolve any damage disputes fairly by having clear before-and-after documentation.
Technical Information
Our platform automatically collects information about how you use our app and website, your device type and general location, GPS location when you're working on a job, and messages you send through our platform. We collect this technical data to make the app work properly, track vehicles during jobs for safety purposes, provide better customer support when you need help, and continuously improve our service based on how people actually use it.
How We Use Your Information
The Main Stuff
We use your information to match you with appropriate jobs by connecting drivers with fleet companies and vehicles that suit their needs. We also use it to help keep everyone safe through vehicle tracking, and maintaining emergency contacts. Your information helps us handle payments correctly so everyone gets paid on time, provide support when things go wrong, and follow government requirements and regulations.
GPS Tracking - Here's What Happens
When a Driver starts and completes a job through the Platform, Steerx records the GPS location at those points only (start and finish).
This information is visible to the relevant Fleet Company for confirmation of job commencement and completion.
Who We Share Your Information With
Other Platform Users
When you accept a job, the relevant parties see:
Fleet Company + Driver:
• Contact details to coordinate the job
• Verification status (background checks passed, etc.)

• Pickup/delivery locations and times
Three-Way Jobs (Fleet + Driver + Vehicle):
• Everyone gets the contact and job details they need
• GPS tracking visible to all parties during the job
What stays private:
• Payment information
• Personal messages (unless related to safety)
Service Companies
We share information with companies that help us run the platform effectively. This includes payment processors who handle financial transactions, background check companies who verify driver qualifications, GPS tracking services that monitor vehicle locations for safety, cloud storage companies that keep your data secure, and insurance companies when there's an incident that needs to be reported or resolved.
Emergency Situations
In emergency situations, we'll share your information with emergency services if there's an accident, police if there's criminal activity, insurance companies for claims processing, and lawyers if there's a legal dispute that requires documentation.
Government Requirements
Sometimes we're legally required to share information with courts when ordered by a judge, police during official investigations, transport authorities for compliance checks, and the tax office for business record keeping.
